  1. In this district there are two fairy forts, one in the farm of John Reidy in Mein, and the other in Greaney's farm in Meenleitrim. Both of them are almost in view of one another. The fort in John Reidy's farm is said to be haunted by a fairy woman. She is to be seen on a fine evening sitting on the fort knitting. The owners of these forts never touch them because it is said the fairies would have revenge on anyone that would interfere with their dwelling places (on them). Children are (would be) afraid to go playing these because they hear stories about them.
