    "The Lore of certain days"
    The first three days of April are called "Sláinte na Righintea". The story told about it is.
    When a brindled well fed old cow went a gadding, she said "To hell I pitched the black March". So March borrowed two days from April, and the weather was so harsh, the old cow was skinned the third day.
    The geese and ducks especially the wild ones do not fly until a certain date supposed to be the last week of August, when some certain wind blows called "Gaoth na Lúghnasa".
    Told by my Grandfather John O'Connor Barn Hall Leixlip formerly of Millstreet Co. Cork aged 70.
    Michaelmas occurs on the 29th September. That time is known as the "Harvest of the Geese". It is a custom to kill young geese at that time.
