- There was supposed to be a crock of gold hidden in the field called the "Riask". John Broderick was working in the field one day and James Hickey came into the field to talk to him and John Broderick often heard that there was a flat-stone over the gold and some words written on it but he said you could not know what the words were. So he saw the flat-stone and he did not want to let James Hickey see it. So he went home and brough the other man wtih him and when James Hickey went home then John Broderick came back into the field. When he went to the stone it was all covered with litle hatchets. It was robbers that hid it, they said in the time of the war when the rich men were killed. There is a stile going into the Riask. The old people say it is a fairy stile that there is a big black dog seen in it at twelve o'clock every night and they say if you crossed that stile that the dog would go after him to a certain place.
