- In olden times there were people travelling from house to house called "poor scholars", who had the gift of being able to tell people where they would find crocks of gold. A poor scholar lodged in Costello's house and at the back of the fire there was a large flag having an inscription on it. Even school masters and clergy could not read or know what it was. The poor scholar read it for Jim Costello and the meaning of it was there was a crock of gold buried under a bush in the garden. Jim Costello and the poor scholar went out next morning to dig under the bush. They found the crock of gold which left Jim Costello and the poor scholar and seven generations after them millionaires all their lives.
