often imprisoned for it. Unfortunately they were not remembered except one verse which he composed as Glenfarne Railway Station. He and his wife wanted to travel by train to Sligo but had not the price of the tickets. A Mr Stocksdale was Station master, and was seldom in good humour, but Nicholas thought of his old plan to humour him and he instantly started to sing and it is to be regretted this is the only verse known-:
    "You all know Mister Stockdale
He's a man of great renown
    He's known from Glenfarne
    Down to Drumshanbo town
And if he hears me singing
    He'll give me half-a-crown"
Needless to say Nicholas and his wife got the half-crown and two tickets for Sligo.
