  1. My native townland is Ahanagran, and it is situated about one mile from the village in the Barony of Iarracht Uí Connchubhair. There are about twenty families in the town-land and the population of about one hundred and forty people. There are not many old people in the town-land the oldest is eighty-three years of age and his name is Dan Holly. Most of the people live chiefly by farming. The crops they grow a potatoes, mangles, cabbage, oats, and turnips. They never sell the crop except a bag of potatoes now and then. Their farms consist of about forty acres of land and an average of about ten cows each. The oldest ruin in the town-land is Agha-Vallen church-yard it was once a monastery but is now used as a burial ground. It is situated about one mile from Ballylongford.
