is wooded and is very beautiful in the Summer time.
The waters of the well were supposed to be great to cure toothache.
In the Protestant churchyard in Taghmon there is a huge cross called St Munn's Cross.
He is supposed to have brought the Cross from Carlow, with asses. He rested at Brownscastle and slept on a shelf of rock for the night. The place is called St Munn's Bed. Next day he started from Brownscastle for Taghmon. The asses were not able to draw the heavy cross up the big hill, and the men from Bricketstown came along and helped them to bring it up. When they reached the top of the hill, the saint gave them his blessing and he told them they need never be afraid of their houses going on fire. All the houses around there were thatched, and it was never known any of 'em to be burned. St Munn died about the year 600 and he is supposed to be buried in Taghmon where the Cross stands.
The Cross was broken by Cromwell's soldiers when they were in Taghmon.
