  1. We have a churn at home. It is about two feet and a half in height. It is about two feet in width on top and bottom. The sides are round. It is about eight years since it was new. The churn is for holding the milk, and the lid is for covering it while the milk is being churned. The staff and dash are for churning the milk.
We churn twice a week in Winter, and twice a week in the Summer also. My mother, assisted by some members of the house, churns. If strangers come in while the churning is going on, they take a brash, as it is an old saying that it would not be lucky not to do so. Churning takes a half an hour, to an hour. Churning is done by the hand mostly, and the churn staff has to be moved upwards and downwards.
