    The cure for the mumps is a pair of donkey's winkers is (done) put round the head of the patient; and someone, whose father and mother are alive, brings the patient in and out of the pig sty three times and says, "Pigs take care of the mumps, mumps take care of the pigs."
    The cure for a stye in your eye is to pull ten thorns from a gooseberry bush, and one whose father and mother are living, is to make the cure as follows: Throw the first one away and point the remaining nine before the stye, "In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen."
    The cure for the warts is before you eat anything in the morning to look for a snail, rub it on the warts, and then put the snail on a thorn. When it is withered away the warts will be away.
