    it they gave three cheers for joy, but little was their notion they would never return again.
    They were scarcely a mile from land, when their cries were heard quite clearly, the boat began to leak, which filled them all with fear. They were filled with terror, and they cried for help, as they were heard for miles around, but before (that) they could get help, to the bottom they went down.
    Here is a verse of the song which was composed on them:
    It would take a tear from
    the hardest heart,
    That ever beat in man,
    To see those children's parents,
    That evening on the strand.
    Their fathers they were frantic,
    Their mothers' screaming wild,
    Saying "God above where is my love
    My only darling child."
