Before bridges were made the people crossed the rivers by smaller boats, and sometimes in tubs. These tubs could hold two or three persons.
The roads long ago were very narrow and bad. A horse or donkey with bardocks could only go the roads. The main road from Dublin to Derry was only the breadth of a horse and car. Long ago the pay for making the roads was very bad. So that the people nowadays have a much better way for travelling than in days gone by.- Collector
