- In the year 1839[?] now amost a hundred years ago, there was a terrible storm of wind and rain, it was ever afterwards called the night of the big wind.Houses were blown down, trees were up rooted, ships were wrecked on sea and stacks of flax hay and oats were blown over the whole country.There was a lot of other storm since that, there was one a few years ago in which a lot of fishermen lost their lives at Connemara.There was a lot of other storms since that, there was a terrible thunder(continues on next page)
