forge is not to be seen. His family were all blacksmiths for the past hundred years. The anvil is five hundred weight it is two and a half feet deep. The sledge is up to eighteen pounds weight and can only be used by strong men. Mr. Gordon makes gates and iron palings. Mr. McGeough makes axels for carts. Ploughs are made by some of the town blacksmiths who have a number of men employed. Harrows are made by almost every carpenter, and the blacksmiths put the pins in them. The forges that have the horse shoe entrance were built in the time of Mr. Trench and are in the Barony of Farney. Conor's forge is situated at a five cross road and Essexford. All the rest of the forges I know are built on the side of the road.
