  1. Old Prayers
My granny Mrs Jane Clabby, Rooskey, Co. mRoscommon, aged 82 years told me the prayers she says. Here is some she says at night.
I see the New moon, and the New moon sees me.
God bless the new moon and God bless me.
Grace in the kitchen grace in the hall
Grace in the parlour amongst us all. This is another one she says There are four corners on my bed,
There are four angels over my head,
    Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
God bless the bed that I lie on.
And if I die before I wake,
I pray to God my soul to take.
If any evil comes to me,
I pray the Blessed Virgin to look on me.
With seven candles in her hands,
    Seven bells ringing,
    Shut the gates of hell
    Open the gates of Heaven.
