  1. The majority of marriages in this district are as a result of match making. Long ago this was always done during Shrove but now people marry at all times of the year only Lent, Advent and the month of May. It is considered unlucky to marry in May and people are still afraid of breaking the old custom.
    When a girl has reached the age when her parents think that she could get married and when they have a fortune procured for her they look around for a suitable man for her. Then they send an account of the match to the man or his parents if they
