He used to get a half-crown a pig from neighbours for driving them.
(Ní raibh aon chúntas beacht aige seo ar cá raibh na stage-houses ná an fhaid a bhíodh sé ar an mbóthar - Eoghan O'Súill ).
The pigs used be sold according to weight - the usual price being three or four pounds a pig.
Afterwards when the railway came from Dunmanway to Bantry, the pigs used be bought in Castletown, and there was a boat taking them from Castletown to Bantry. They used walk the pigs into Castletown from the Pound. This was usual until about 6 or seven years ago. They are now take by lorry from the Pound to Castletown.
