    her that he would give her a half a crown for a quarter of a loaf, he said that if she would not give him a piece of bread, he and his family would be dead before morning. So she gave him a quarter of a loaf. Then he ran out to his horse and jumped on her back and went home as fast as he could, so that he would give them a bit of bread to keep them alive. The bridle he had was the hair of the horse's and the cow's tails traced.
