  1. Across the ocean, blue and wide there lies an isle serene,
    An isle of rustic beauty, clad in robe of emerald green
    Each morn the sun's caressing beams fall gently on its face,
    Revealing in impressive tones its elegance and grace.

    The mountains rise to lofty heights to greet the azure skies,
    And river rolling towards the seas sing some lullabies.
    Somewhere on that verdured isle my boyhood days I spent,
    Absorbed in childish fancies and in pastimes innocent.

    The house in which I lived, when young, stood by the river's side,
    From whence it looked serenely o'er the Shannon's flowing tide
    Tall sycamores and beechnut trees a canopy have made
    Of foliage, whose leafy textures kept the house (?)
