- There are numerous forts or "cahirs" all over Ireland some of which are like fortifications and it is understood they were originally made for that purpose by the Danes or other fighting people. They are made in a circle and are surrouneded by a big trench the surface of which was used to make a fence or wall enclosing about a quarter acre of dry land. Some forts are made in hilly places as there are cellars or rooms underground with secret passages leading into them. It is comonly known that seven forts can be seen from one fort so as the troops(continues on next page)
