  1. There is a fort in Mr Brassil's land in Poulaphuca. it is one of the largest in the district. Up to thirty years ago before it was overgrown with grass you could see some beautiful buildings at the lower part of it. There is a spot in the fort and it is supposed that there is gold hidden there. It is guarded by the phooka or fairy horse. There is a light supposed to be seen there every night about twelve o'clock and some people often heard the Banshee crying there at night.
    There is a fort near Lissycasey about four miles from Ballynacally. One summer's evening a few years ago a number of boys were passing this fort at sunset, they saw a crowd of small men coming out of the fort. They started a hurling match and for an hour they hurled fast and furious. When the match was over they walked into the fort in single file, and under the same fort there is a cave with gold hidden there. One evening an old man was passing by on whose land the fort is and just as he was about to pass through a path in the fort he saw a tall woman wearing a black cloak standing near a black thron bush. She pointed to a spot in the ground near the bush. The old man went home but returned the following morning with a spade and shovel. He started
