  1. Potatoes are our chief food, and great attention is given to potato growing.
    A good part of the land around Dunleer is given to potatoes every year.
    We have a large farm on which we plant a great lot of potatoes.
    The soil is prepared before the seed are planted. First it is ploughed, and all the soil is turned over. Then the soil is harrowed and the lumps of clay are broken and the ground is left smooth and level. The plough is again used and the drills and opened. The manure is then spread.
    The seed are prepared. Large potatoes are cut into two or three parts, but an eye must be left one each part.
