    More marriages take place at the shrove period of the year. The Autumn is the next best period.
    Some people object ot marriages during the month of May. Friday is considered an unlucky day.
    When a man wants to get a wife from any particular family he generally gets a friend to introduce the subject to the parents of the girl. If they approve of the would-be husband, bargaining takes place as to the amount of money to be given as dowry.
    If enough of money is not available some stock or a portion of land may be added.
    Few people living now remember marriages taking place in houses.
    After the ceremony in Church the bride's party return to the home of the brides parents where breakfast is severed to all. A wedding cake is cut by the bride and bridegroom and divided amongst the guest.
