   in former times than nowadays because the ruins of the old houses are still to be seen. There is the ruins of an old monastery that was destroyed by the danes in the olden times. There is the Inny River that flows by the church and that is how the townland got its name.

   In my townland there are five houses, three thatched ones, a cottage, and a former's slated house. My father told me that houses were more numerous in former days. He told me that there are 8 ruins in the townland, seven of which are not plainly visible and the owners of these were Burkes, Dillons, Sammons,
