- In olden days they used to make candles out of rushes, first of all they used to cut the rushes and bring them in and dry them. Then they pealed the outside off them. After that they dipped them in grease, the rush-candle would last about an hour.
- The candle-stick which the people used to use was a small round table with a short iron bar on the top of the table, there was a hole in the top of the bar and they used to put the candle in the hole.
