- In olden times people had three meals, breakfast, dinner, and supper. Breakfast in the morning, dinner in the middle of the day, and supper in the evening. People often went out at daybreak to plough, and harrow, and mow the meadow before having any food.
The breakfast consisted of porridge, the dinner of potatoes and buttermilk, and the supper potatoes or porridge. Milk was often drank during the day too, newmilk or buttermilk. The table was placed in the middle of the floor when the people were eating. The people often hung the table from the celling when not in use.
