- There are potatoes growing in our farm at home about a half acre of them. They are set in ridges and in drills. The potatoes are cut in two sgiolláins with an eye in each. When the stalks are up above the ground they are "risen to" and are "risen to" again when the stalks are about a foot high. In July the potatoes are sprayed to prevent the blight. In September the potatoes are dug and are put into pits. The pits are covered with scraws and risus.
