- In olden days football and hurling were great games by the young men on Sundays and holidays throughout the year. They used come from several districts to play in a field of ours known as the Black Field.
In olden times they used to wear no football suits or football shoes. Ennismore and Dysert generally played and had seventeen at each side. They had no lot overheard the goalsport. Any ball that would go beyond their reach was a point and any ball that passed within their reach was a goal.(continues on next page)- Collector
