  1. There was a time when the people had to pay rents to the landlords and if they were not able to pay the rent they were evicted, that is turned out of their homes without pity.
    Or else they had to work for him. In the beginning of the war Mr Crosbie sold his estates to Jerry Leen. They were hard on the poor who could not pay the rents. They used leave no one hunt with a dog on the mountains; if they were caught they would be summoned. They were awful days in Ireland
