  1. There are two forges in this parish. John Casey's and Pat Cantillon's. The forge is a small thatched house that the smith works in. It is generally near his dwelling house. There are two kinds of smiths there, a silver smith and a black smith.
    The smiths here are blacksmiths. The black smith often works in the open, especially when he is putting bands on wheels. Forges are very useful to us.
