  1. Many forges were in this place long ago but there are only two there at present namely John Casey and Patrick Cantillon's. John Casey lives in Ballyheigue and Patrick Cantillon in Maulin. They are both very strong men.
    Patrick Cantillon is very handy for fixing gates and harrows and wheel-ploughs as well as for shoeing horses. Some forges are shaped like a horse-shoe, and some like a triangle. A smith must have a lot of different tools to do his work in a forge, namely an anvil, pool of water, a fire, a small
