- Long ago when the people wanted to bring butter they would put old shoes and irons in to the fire and give themselves up to the devil. Then on May night they would go out with a can and milk every cow they would then meet. They used some old prayer to say while milking.
Then they would go home and throw it in to the cream. Then they would have all the butter of these cows taken. They said if a person wen in to a house and they making a churn they would bring it if they did did not make a start of it. There was once a man and his butter(continues on next page)- Collector
