- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)The merry making lasted through out the whole day and night. They danced as old folk say "Their shoes into slippers. Some of the tunes played at the old weddings were Paudeen O' Raufaty and the Connaughts Man Rambles. The Kid on the mountain. The hauling or flitting home took place a few weeks after the marriage. The flitting consisted of furniture and linen goods spun by the brides mother. In rare cases the bride got her mothers spinning wheel which was dearer to her than all. This was also a day and a night merry making for the friends of both parties And this day ended up the old Irish weddings. These old days are gone never to return but their memory is as dear in the hearts of the Irish people of to-day. As the day on which these people were joined in weddlock to be never separated only in death.
