At the present time very few little boys are to be seen around here gathering wren money but instead a crowd of "grown ups" called mummers go around dressed in all kinds of fantastic costumes women's skirts and blouses, hens' feathers in hats on their head and false faces. One of them is usually a musician of some kind who plays some music while some of the others dance a ew steps on the kitchen floor. They get some money and proceed from house to house. At night they hold a dance in a hall or country house and spend the money they collected on drink and cigars. This is becoming an awful nuisance in this part of the country, the door is scarcely closed on one party until another knocks and sometimes as much as 10/ is given to them from one house.- Faisnéiseoir
