“A little boy named Connolly was drowned in the bog...”
A little boy named Connolly was drowned in the bog at the piers about 1/2 mile from Carrigallen.
He was taken up out of the bog [?] all wet. Two men carried him home on their shoulders and when they brought him home and left him down there wasn't a drop on themselves. About six months after a cousin of his was sleeping in the house and the boy that was supposed to be drowned came crying to the door to let him in. The cousins would get up and let him in only the boy's mother would not let her afraid anything would happen herself.
He went away and wasn't heard again. People said he was not drowned but taken away by the fairies.- Faisnéiseoir
