- A FloodAbout forty eight years ago there was a great flood in this district. It occurred in the month of November. There was light rain during the day and the night was still worse. When daybreak came the whole landscape resembled a sea.At this time there dwelt in a little cottage in the townland of Belville a woman named 'Nora Finian'. The flood crossed the road and surrounded Nora's cottage. Her neighbours were all sure she was drowned. During the whole night a light was seen going round the house. A neighbour of Nora's named 'Jack Colleary' worked in Ormsby's and he had business to Belville in the morning. When he saw how Nora was surrounded with the flood he thought she was surely drowned. He met Owen Gilroy and they both caught hands(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
