    Long ago when a marriage took place the 'Cleathairí' or Straw boys gathered to the bride's house, that is the wedding house, on the night of the wedding, just as they do now.
    For many night before the marriage, the straw boys were busy preparing their disguise. They wanted to have all ready for the night of the wedding. They used to gather all the old dresses and shirts and all. Then on then night of the wedding, they disguised themselves in those things. Then they got straw and stuffed it up under the old dresses, to make them look fine and stout. Then they had big straw bonnets, which they made themselves, that covered their heads and faces
