    great pleasure to light a fire and boil eggs, and to have the feast beside the fire. On Ash Wednesday, Spy Wednesday, and Good Friday the people did not eat anything until after twelve o'clock. They had black tea and bread made of water. On black fast days the old people used to make neetle soup, and add oaten meal as they were not allowed to drink milk.
    Noggins and tins were used before cups for drinking vessels.
    The old people ate potatoes, oat-bread, oat-porridge, and buttermilk. The people long ago were far stronger than the people nowadays. Meat was not eaten by poor people except on a Christmas Day. Long ago the people used to be seventeen or eighteen years of age before they wore boots. Long ago they used to spin their own clothes. The people
