Some people sing a song called
"Fill the bucket" to their cows.
The milk that newly calved cows give is called beestings, and we make a pudding out of it. We get flour, currants, and the beestings, and mix them, and then boil all together.It is good luck to put a goat in among cows, and there is a horseshoe hanging up in our cowhouse at home. Long ago when old people were putting out their cows, they hit each cow with a willow stick between the horns.
