   1. Long ago the old people made
   "boxty" bread. They peeled the raw potatoes and grated them and mixed them with flour and they baked them before the fire on a griddle.
   2. The old people also made oaten bread. They made it from oaten meal and they baked it before the fire on a gridiron.
   3. The old people grew bear from which they made bear bread. It was like barley. It had a four sided head. It was milled and mixed with milk.
   4. Rye bread was also made. They made it from rye which they themselves. It was sweet and black.
   An old saying is :-
   "Bear bread would kill a man dead
   Rye bread would do him no harm
   Wheaten bread would sweeten his blood
   But Oaten bread would put strength in his arms."
   When the people ate oaten bread they had to bleed their arms in the spring
