  1. Once upon a time a man called George Browne, was going home from his "Ceidhle" and he thought he saw a man in a cabbage bed belonging to Henery Browne, He said "Good Night" three times and it did not speak.
The man said he would make it speak, and he drew his stick and knocked the hat off it, and yet it did not speak. When the hat fell it made a rattle and it scared the man and he ran home.
On his way home he met the owner of the cabbage bed and he told him the whole story. The owner said it was a scare - crow, but the man would not believe him and he went back the next day to see what it was.
