“One night a man was coming home from a horse fair in Ennis.”
One night a man was coming home from a horse fair in Ennis. It was late when he left the town. He had to pass a fort which was haunted. He had a young horse and as he was just passing it a light appeared which had the shape of a horse with a man's head. The young horse got frightened and tried to go in the man but he was not able. The light kept on after him all the time until he was near his own house.
This man met his servant boy at the crossroad and they stood talking. The light appeared again and they threw stones at it, the light came nearer and it took the shape of a man. Another took the horse from them and then himself and the horse disappeared. The two of them went home very sorrowful when the horse was taken from them. next day when he went out the horse was in the cabin and he was very glad to have him back again.- Bailitheoir
