Some people wanted to build a new house one time.

Some people wanted to build a new house one time. The place which was picked out for building the house was between two forts. When half the house was built it was knocked one night. It was built again but it was knocked. It was knocked for three nights in succession. Then someone said to remove it and it was built in another place and it is there always. It was how it was in the fairies way when they were going from one fort to the other and they knocked it.

One night a man was in bed and he heard his horses galloping about the road.

One night a man was in bed and he heard his horse galloping about the road. He got up and put the horse into a field near a fort and when he was putting a stick across the gap he was thrown over it and he was thrown over it three times and he left it knocked. The fairies were going out the gap every night and the stick would be in their way.
