  1. Once there was a young man from my district to America. This young chap knew the lake and every island in it. Some time after emigrating he had a strange dream. The dog which his father owned at home appeared to him in the dream and he thought he saw himself as the dog landing on an island named Anachmore in Lough Conn. He also dreamt that there were two barrels of gold hidden in this island and that the gold was guarded by a serpent. Soon after, he made up his mind to return and search for the gold. Shortly after arriving home there was a dance held in a neighbours house, and he was present. Here he met two companions and told them of his dream. They agreed to go with him that very night to seek for the treasure. Soon they were on the way
