    and some more milk at night-fall. A few hours after they took rye porridge and more milk. Before they went to bed they ate more bread and drank more milk. Sometimes they had great numbers of goats. They used to drink goats milk.

    Sometimes the people used to set round a basket of potatoes. When the potatoes were boiled they used to team them. That is by putting the basket on a bucket or pot and then emptying the potatoes out into the basket. The water wen through the basket for it was made of salley rods. The potatoes were allowed to cool for a few minutes, then the whole family sat around the basket and ate the potatoes. Knives and forks were not used. The potatoes were peeled by means of the thumb. Sometimes they ate potatoes and salt, but generally they took a noggin of sweet milk or buttermilk. They people that lived by the seaside often ate herring. These were roasted by means of
