  2. Long ago when there were no clocks, there were three or four men arose in the middle of the night and went to cut corn.
    They cut for many hours and all of a sudden there started the greatest laughing ever they heard. It was like hundreds of people laughing together, and there was a voice called, "you may stop, for your have worked very hard."
    The men found that for all their hours hard work that they had only two sheaves cut. It was the fairies who were laughing at them.
