  1. No. 1—One night several years ago a a Dooish man called Paddy O’Neill was coming home from his work. As he crossed the hill he heard singing and laughing. He thought it was some of his neighbors coming towards him. So he shouted and sang to let them know it was he. When he came to the top of the hill he saw several lights. He knew then it was none of the neighbors. A few small tiny people came up and spoke to him. They asked him where he was going, and he said he was going home. They invited him to stay with them for the night, and he did so.
They went to the fairy-palace where the feasted and sang and danced until morning. When morning came the man went home. His neighbors asked him where was he all this very long time. He said he had only been away for one night, but they told him he had been away for seven years.
