   Severe Weather There was a great storm of wind in former times. This storm occurred in the year 1899. There was a great thunderstorm in the year 1860 and the cows were roaring in the byre, and the dogs were running under the beds. There was a great snowstorm in the year 1840. There was a woman walking from Carnone to Straban. When she was going over Carnone hill the snow was lying in drifts, and it was level with the houses. She thought she was going on the road but she was going on the top of a house and one of her feet went down the chimney.
