  1. Long ago there used to be fairies in Ireland. They lived neath the thorn bushes. At night they sued to come out and dance round them.
    No one would cut them down the thorn bushes, because they say you would have no luck if you did. One time a man cut down a thorn bush and he grew poorer every day.
    One day a fairy came up to a woman and asked her for a bowl of meal, and she gave (her) the bowl of meal, and she grew richer every day.
