    tied the doors and others tied bags over the chimney. Those attending the wedding raced against each other on horses on the way home. Wives sat on the horses with their husbands. They sat on a little thing like a chair called a pillion. It was a kind of side saddle. It said to be lucky for a bride on her wedding day to wear "something old and something new, something borrowed and something blue".
