    Cheer up my boy with heart and hand ¶ And think of New year's day

    Cheer up my boy with heart and hand,
    And think of New Year's day,
    We'll rise the flag of freedom with our banners light and gay
    As we marched through Skreen, we wore the green,
    Three cheers from every boy,
    To bring freedom to our country, and a happy New Year's day.

    The mountains brown all smiled with joy,
    As we had crossed the moor's,
    As we marched down the lobby, we saw Tireragh's shores,
    The bands they came to meet us,
    As we marched in rank so gay,
    The harp of Eireann's freedom shall sound on New Year's day.

    The Coolearney boys they all came there,
    And from Easkey and Dromore,
    The boats upon the ocean they were roaring to the shore,
    They assembled there in thousands,
